Bokashi Two Bin Kit Description
The Bokashi Two bin Kit is an effective and convenient way to compost your kitchen waste. The Two Bin kit is the most effective method of composting. It simply works by using one bin until it is full, then using the other bin. When the second bin is full, the first bin is simply sprinkled into your garden as it has had the perfect amount of time for the micro-organisms to work their magic. The first bin is then cleaned out and used again and once the first bin is full, the second bin is ready to be sprinkled onto your garden as fertiliser and used again. The process is simply repeated.
Great for houses and ideal for apartments, the eco-friendly Bokashi Bucket eliminates the smell and unpleasantness associated with putrefaction and decay.
Almost all food scraps are compostable in the Bokashi Bucket including citrus, raw and cooked meat, poultry, fish, vege's, fruit, cheese, bread, coffee grinds, eggs, tea bags, flowers and even tissues.
The bokashi used in our Bukashi Recycling Systems is crushed Australian grain (usually barley, wheat and rice mixture) fermented with our beneficial microbes and molasses. The microbes work in an anaerobic environment - i.e. with no Oxygen - so they don't produce heat or odours, there is no leachate problem, and no insects or rodents either.
Items Included In This Kit:
2 x Bokashi Bin (colour of your choice - select above)
1 x 5L bags of EM Bokashi mixture

Dimensions (cm): 32(L) 40(W) 30(H)
How To Use The Bokashi Bin
The Bokashi Bucket is easy to use with the 3-step process:
1. Place your waste into the bucket.
2. Mash the waste to remove air.
3. Sprinkle a hand full of the Bokashi mix over the waste.
It's as easy as 1-2-3.
Repeat this layering process until the Bokashi Bucket is full.
Drain off liquid (Bokashi juice) as necessary.
Once the first bucket is full to capacity, start using the second bucket. When the second bucket is full, empty the first bucket - this gives the micro-organisms time to work their magic. Repeat the process.

Great system for reducing waste to the garbage bin and generating compost

Easy to use and the 2 buckets work well in a rotation system. We are a family of 5 so our only problem is we fill them so quickly we could do with three! The system really is odorless, the Bokashi mix is actually the smelliest part. We keep a small amount in a well sealed container next to the bin with the rest out of the way and only accessed occasionally to refill.
Highly recommended

Does the job I'd hoped. The tap is a good function as it allows you to easily drain off the liquid which provides a liquid fertiliser. I've detected no odour from the bin and our overall rubbish amount has reduced considerably now that we are using the Bokashi Bin to compost. I recommend getting the 2 Bin kit as it allows you to keep your waste in the bin for longer between swapping them (i.e. when you fill one up and replace it with the other, you can keep the waste in the first bin until the replacement is nearly full. This allows the waste to break down even more before putting into your soil. It also means you don't have to immediately empty and rinse your bin every time it becomes full as you can already have your second bin rinsed and ready to go a day or two before the currently used bin is completely full). Also, I have been surprised how much waste you can fit in one bin. We are getting around 3 weeks worth of waste to one bin. All in all, I would highly recommend this product.

5L bag is a good size - has taken family of 3 four months to near the bottom. Definitely recommend 2 bokashi bins so you can use them in rotation and max the juicing power.

I really like the Bokashi Bucket system, but as yet it is early days to be able to determine the quality of the compost generated. I love the fact that it does not smell if you choose to have it inside (due to the tight fitting lid). I also like the fact that you have another bucket to continue on with once the first bucket is filled.

The Bokashi bin allowes you to recycle your waste into useful organic matter for your soil. It also gives you bokashi 'juice' a few times a week which is concentrated fertiliser for your plants or if you haven't that many plants it's good to pour it down your sinks to clean the pipes and fight harmful bacteria that ends up in our waterways. It's the best investment i've made for my pipes, plants and yes the environment!

So practical!!

I am just about to finish filling the second of my 2 bokashi bins and I must say I love them!! I rave about them to everyone I know! With 2 young kids in our house, the amount of food waste was heart-breaking! Most of it, unable to be composted. As we also rent, having a big compost bin in the back yard is not very practical. Bokashi bins are the perfect solution for our household. Small enough to fit on the bench, odour-free, so easy to useand able to recycle SO much more waste than a traditional compost bin. Plus, I have been giving away the bokashi juice fertiliser to family & friends (we have no use for it at present) and they all think it is the most amazing liquid fertiliser ever. Fantastic! I highly recommend these bins. Delivery was also cheap & prompt - what more could anyone ask?
Best method for composting your scraps!
Date posted: 11 October 2011 Reviewed by: Helen Isitt City: Sale, Victoria
I researched many methods of composting my scraps and waste food, and even contemplated building my own. Then I found the Bokashi Bin System and I would never go any other way now. The bin lives under my kitchen bench and all my scraps, used paper towel, even the hair from my hairbrush go into the bin. Easy to follow instructions make it easy to use. Highly recommend this product to anyone who cares about caring for our planet.
