Todae's leading LED downlight, the StarLux12v MR16 LED downlight, is a cost effective and easy way to reduce your carbon footprint and save on your power bills.  It uses approximately 10% of the energy of a 50 watt halogen downlight (saving up to 90% of your lighting costs) and can pay for itself in one to two years.

The Starlux light is made in Korea by one of the world's leading LED light technology companies and Starlux is the name that Todae gives this range for the Australian market.

The Todae Starlux LED emits a similar amount of the light to a standard 50 watt halogen globe and can be fitted in seconds (with a compatible transformer in place).

The warm white Starlux Downlights come in two different beam angles: 80° and 50°.  The 50° beam angle is more suited to high ceilings as it ensures that the light doesn't lose its brightness as it is dispersed around the room, while the 80° beam angle is excellent for lower ceilings as it light stays bright as it is fills the room.
 
With a lifespan of approximately 50,000 hours (50 times longer than a halogen), the light bulb will pay for itself and then continue saving you money on power bills.

How do I know whether this bulb is compatible with my downlight fittings? 
This is an MR16 fitting - with two sharp pins on the base.  If your current bulbs have thick cyclinger shapes on the end of the pins, it is a GU10 fitting.
All MR16 12v bulbs require a transformer.

Transformer compatibility:  The StarLux is compatible with most downlight transformers, but may not work on some.  Please be aware that to achieve the maximum energy efficiency, cost savings and life-span from an LED bulb, LED specific transformers should be used.  They do use less energy and run cooler than standard halogen transformers.
We highly recommend the Redback transformer for use with the Starlux.  Note that transformers must be installed by an electrician.

I replaced four downlights in my kitchen with four of these. I tried an LED downlight a couple of years ago and the light was very harsh - however it has outlasted all of the other standard bulbs I had many times over. The light from these is a very pleasing warm colour, and the brightness doesn't seem noticeably dimmer than the halogens (which used to burn out all the time). I can now light my kitchen for 24 watts as opposed to 200 watts!

An excellent MR 16 replacement insert. Easy to install, comparable output to 50 watt QH but only 6 watt input and with 85 degree spread it is a big winner.
This is a great replacement for power hungry halogen downlights.

I replaced 8 halogen downlights with the starlux 6.5w led to help reduce electricity consumption in my home , eventually i will replace all halogen to led in the house.

Good product, will not function well with all electronic transformers and not 1:1 with a 50w halogen. Good for passage way or bedroom where bright lighting not essential. DR700 more expensive but better in living zones.

My family are very critical of anything which isn't the classic warm white or if it is not bright enough. I bought one of these and replaced one of the 50W halogens in our lounge room and no one has demanded it be removed or complained or even commented. In our house, that's high praise. It does seem very close to the 50W, perhaps not quite as bright.

I purchased 4 of these lights to try out - to reduce my downlight power costs. I have installed them all in the bathroom. I believe that they are brighter than the original halogens that i had in there previously and they were 50 W each. I'm going to get some more of these soon to put in other areas of the house as they work so well, and fit (as you would expect) where the existing halogens use to be.

Item to big to fit in socket made for normal down lights, check standard fitting sizes. Have to modify light socket to accommodate this bulb.

I was hoping that these downlights would work with my existing transformers but that wasn't the case. New transformers at $40 each made my attempts at greening my kitchen a little more expensive than I expected but I am happy with the light output and the fact that I am making a difference.
