The Brightgreen DR700 is an amazing innovation in LED lighting which can replace any standard 50 watt halogen downlight globe and provide 1:1 light - but only use 10.5 watts instead of 50 watts (meaning lower electricity costs)!

Simply remove your halogens and replace with the DR700. It is that easy to install the DR700!   Please check first that you have a MR16 fitting (which has two sharp pins and is most common for 12V recessed downlights).

Why not make a difference to global warming and your budget by trying one at home today?  You can see how it works and then consider replacing more.  Plus, there's no risk with our 30 day money back guarantee.

For more information on the DR700 retrofit range from Brightgreen download the data sheet.

Download the Brightgreen App to find out how much money your new LED light bulbs will save you and use the built in lighting designer to work out how many lights you need for each room.

How do I know whether this bulb is compatible with my downlight fittings?
This is an MR16 fitting - with two sharp pins on the base.  If your current bulbs have thick cyclinger shapes on the end of the pins, it is a GU10 fitting.

The DR700 LED is a breakthrough in LED technology as it allows you to swap all your old energy hungry halogen bulbs over to efficient LED’s simply by swapping the bulb.

Start making a positive contribution to the environment while saving on your power consumption with the DR700.

Brightgreen Benefits:

Insect Free Brightgreen lights are designed to operate within the tight visual spectrum of humans.
Fire Free At an average operating temperature of 60°C, Brightgreen lights are among the coolest in the market. This means a zero risk of fire and 100% peace of mind.
Low operating temperatures also means you save money on cooling during the warm months.
UV Free With Brightgreen LEDs there’s no UV, so there’s no longer any need to wear sunblock indoors. Your furnishings will also stay fade free.
Instant Start-up It’s not rocket science. When you flick the switch, our lights turn on instantly. That’s handy.
Heavy Metal Free Brightgreen lights are free from all harmful materials, including mercury and lead, which are both found in CFLs and other LEDs.
Flicker Free CFLs and most LEDs operate by flashing at rapid rates, continuously creating the illusion that they are on all the time. The result is eyestrain, headaches and bad moods. Brightgreen LEDs are solid-state, which means they’re always on.
Built-In Spike Protection Australian power supplies are some of the world’s most volatile, resulting in millions of products failing every year. Brightgreen lights are protected by a built-in 3100V spike arrester (4000V for most of our retrofit range), well above the standard 240V supply.
Environmentally Sustainable Our lights last up to 70,000 hours, which has been approved by NATA testing. Eventually when they do expire, 30 years down the track, Brightgreen will buy back your used units for $2. All the parts are recyclable too.
Please note: *Official brightness of 50W halogen according to the Department of Climate and Energy Efficiency.

Very easy installation and equally as good light output as the halogens replaced. There is very little heat produced and they are only slightly warm to the touch compared to halogens which are far too hot to handle even after they have been off for a while. Looking forward to even further price drops.

light is brighter than the halogens that I replaced with good spread. Depending on the fitting, can be a bit fiddly to replace bulb as the cooling fins extend up around the two pins, making a screwdriver difficult to get in and tighten the connections. I also had to go up into the roof cavity to replace the bulbs.

Thought I would really try and save energy in Winter (as my family is always leaving the heater on). I set up a Wattson Energy Meter and then measured my usage. Then switched over to the 6 DR700's I got for my lounge room. Even just those 6 made a big difference. Seeing them now on special again I will have to buy some more.

I have trialled a number of LED halogen replacements. Most have low lumen/ lux and don't come near to the performance of a 50W halogen with poor beam width/ definition in comparison. The DR700 is sooooo good. I have halogen lighting throughout the house (and it is costing a fortune in power bills!). I did a side by side comparison of the DR700, halogen and other led down lights. I can't tell the difference from the DR700 and the halogen. And to boot it requires no transformer change, is dimmable and easy to install. So I've just bought a stack of these to replace my halogens. Now I don't need to go around the house in the dark to control costs!!!! And the current sale price is the cheapest I can find anywhere - even when discussing bulk purchases with other suppliers. Good on you todae - keep the discount going for everyones sake!!

I love them, you would never know they are LEDs. They are every bit as bright as a 50W halogen. Also very easy to fit and no electrician needed so that somewhat offsets the initial purchase price. I just hope they keep dropping in price so I can afford to change all my downlights.

I purchased one of these recently and was suprised to see the light output in comparison to my current 50W halogens. These really are a 50W halogen replacement. The light is bright and has a nice coverage area, the colour is whiter than a halogen. It has no issues dimming with my clipsal c-bus dimmers, however there is not a great change in light level between 80-100% and will not dim as low as a halogen, but it does work all the way down to 1%. As yet I haven't had a problem with them starting. There is a hint of flicker when dimming and a slight strobe effect with fast moving objects. Overall a great product

These LED downlights exceeded my expectations. The light seems a more natural colour and, for us, is brighter than the leading brand 50W halogens they replaced! I was worried they were going to be dull, but they were actually brighter, and, over a couple of months, have kept their brightness, which was a problem with the halogens too (when the halogens were on for long hours they dulled pretty quickly). The screw apart design is clever and allowed me to use them with my downlight fittings. I did have to change most of the transformers though (house about 11 years old) due to flickering. Some flickered straight away, others only started flickering after the lights had been on for about 30 minutes, and some only when dimmed. But it is not consistent- I haven't needed to change all the transformers, including some that are dimmed... Despite the need to change most of the transformers I still think the LED lights themselves are an outstanding product, it is just that the claims of being so universally compatible with nearly all transformers is overstated.

The product is very good and works with existing light fixtures that have been installed with a transformer. I have tried many other LED lights but this one by far is the best and does not flicker at all. My only criticism is that it's far to expensive to replace all the down lights in the house. So the price needs to come down allot before I replace my 60+ down lights. Other then that great product.

I bought 12 of these lights, but in the kitchen area - (4 lights on one dimmable switch), when I switch on, only some of them light up. Agree with Andrew's comments about the dimming. Mine dimmed but at a certain point they just begin to flicker. Nowhere near the same control as a halogen. Also, when I turn on the light in our dining room occassionally one of the lights actually doesn't turn on but when I switch the light off and on again it works. Weird!!!! Generally okay product. Saves time in purchasing and replacing dimmers.

I have tried a number of replacements for the 50W down lights. Compact florescent - poor light, slow start up, cant dim, High efficiency 20W or 30W - light output is not as good and lifespan is no better. I even considered replacing the entire fittings but at $100 per light (installed by an electrician) it was not cost effective to do 40 lights! These little beauties are easy to install myself and therefore a cost effective alternative to do a few at a time, super bright and are the correct colour temperature (warm white). With a life span far superior to halogens and compact florescent I will be buying more. The running cost savings are going to mount up too :-) BTW - My down lights allowed these units to clip in directly as a replacement for the Halogen lamp rather than having to disassemble as shown in the catalog pictures.

Very easy to fit, great design, good quality light... However, there is definitely a flickering problem. It is quite bad when the light is first switched on (presumable when its cool) and then reduces over time (as it warms up?). Even after you have had it on for a few minutes, at certain dimming levels it flickers. For example, it's OK at 100%, say at 40-60% and 10-20% but certain ranges definitely flicker, not badly but enough to be annoying. Good effort, happy to keep using them, but if you could sort this out for the next version it would certainly help.

First impressions weren't great. Mine had scratches all over them - on the plastic lenses, on the black paint and on the silver ring. Definitely not what you expect for nearly $70 a lamp! I bought several of these for use in my loungeroom but they flickered like mad. I then moved them to a different room with different transformers but they still flickered, albeit not quite as bad. Finally I put them in my kitchen and they were fine. I can only assume that having a dimmer on them, like the first 2 rooms, messes them up. I honestly thought about returning them, but since I've found a home for them in my kitchen (un-dimmed) I've decided to keep them anyway. So, in summary, they don't feel like 70 bucks worth but they work fine as long as you don't need to dim them.

I bought this a while back and received it to test out. I have been waiting for a dimmable LED down light to replace my halogens for a while. The design is pretty clever which made it easy to install, only took me a minute. The light output was exactly the same as a halogen and the dimming worked perfectly. Will definitely be buying more to replace my old halogens.
