How Do Wind Turbines Work?

Wind turbines work by turning kinetic energy from the wind into mechanical energy, which is then converted into electricity. When the wind is strong enough the blades of the wind generator spin which is connected to a shaft. This shaft then turns the alternator which creates electricity. The wind generator is pointed into the wind by the tail (or wind vane). This energy is then stored in batteries to power appliances or it can be put back into the grid. Wind power is one of the cheapest per watt renewable energies available. Have a look at our range of wind turbines..

What Wind Turbines Do Todae Offer?

We offer a range of small scale wind turbines to suit all needs and budgets. Whether you are looking for a 200w generator to power your shed or a 3.5Kw generator to power your whole house, we can tailor a solution to suit you. We have a variety of wind turbines from the best brands - Southwest Wind Power, Whisper, Air Breeze, AmpAir and EnviroWind. We are able to tailor battery bank wind power systems or grid connect wind power systems. Our wind turbines comes in a variety of voltages - 12v, 24v, 36v and 48v.

Components of a Wind Generator System:

Wind Generators

We have a variety of wind generators to suit all different needs. We are not brand specific in our wind generators and we use most major brands including Air Breeze, AmpAir and Whisper. All our wind generators come with warranty's upto 5 years and are of the highest quality. Most wind generators come with built in regulation or charge controllers.

Inverters

Inverters convert the power your wind generator produces into mains voltage (240V) so it can be used by your appliances. The inverter will direct the wind energy to your appliances (e.g. TV or fridge) if they are on, or otherwise it will send it to the grid for someone else to use (if you have a grid connect system). Most wind generators need low star-up voltage inverters and for this reason there are not many alternatives available.

Deep Cycle Batteries

Batteries are a essential part to any wind power system. Deep cycle batteries store the electricity so it can be used at any time by your appliances. We have a variety of different types of batteries as well as different brands available. If you don't see the type of battery you need on our site, as us as we have others in stock.

Why Choose Wind Power?

Wind turbines provide far, far more power per dollar - provided you have wind. Most places however have some wind over a 24 hour period. Wind turbines are relatively easy to install and can help reduce your impact on the environment and reduce your carbon emissions. Wind turbines are a great way to create clean and reliable renewable energy.
