Staff Eco Tip of the Month: Taking care of our beaches

Meet Ben.

Ben is one of our knowledgable store staff, and believes that it is our duty to look after our planet.

"Something that always makes a huge impact on me is when I see animals affected by human waste products and our laziness and disrespect towards their habitats, especially when it comes to sea life. My whole life I have always been in and around the ocean and it angers me to see more and more rubbish piling up on the beach every year. Every time I am at the beach, whether I am surfing or walking the dog I try to pick up as much debris as possible".

"Every year more and more animals loose vital habitats and on top of this, excessive pollution and our disrespect for the natural environment is going to kill our most favoured creatures. The most common “debris” I pick up is plastic bags. To counter-act this I use corn starch bags at home, which are 100% bio degradable. It is one of many steps to reduce my pollution footprint. My philosophy is to make small and manageable changes to my lifestyle that will benefit not only the animal’s, but our earth as a whole."
