Change your Perspective - 1 day a month

After great success and feedback from "The Plastic Diet" we have decided to implement a community based day every month that aims to generate awareness around our actions and get people talking. We have decided to call it the “Todae Monthly Eco-Challenge”

The idea is to have a different challenge every month that only lasts for one day, without being too taxing or compromising, but that will still make a significant difference if everyone gets involved. It will occur on the 1st day of every month to make it easy to remember the date. We would love to get your ideas on what you think may be effective and fun. Please send your ideas to thoughts@todae.com.au

Todae Monthly Eco Challenge 3, June 1st 2009 – Car Free Day

Time to get out your walking shoes, your BMX or your train timetable and not use your car for one whole day! Our cities and society are built around car travel, yet the fuel we currently use produces about 2.5kg of greenhouse gas per litre! It is time to ‘own’ our personal contribution to carbon emissions and offset the emissions we ‘have’ to have.

Good luck and let us know how you go!

Other tips to reduce your car’s emissions:

Drive less, walk, ride and use public transport: If you have to drive, plan to do a number of errands in one trip and avoid peak hour traffic as much as possible. Tune your car, drive more slowly and avoid using your air conditioner as much as possible. Careful driving habits and basic car maintenance can also conserve fuel and reduce your carbon emissions.

We encourage you to do this exercise with friends and family and get them involved as well. This will make it easier, more fun and the more people that do it, the more impact it will have.

We also encourage you to write to us telling about your experience so we can share it with others.

Good luck,

Danin & The Todae Team
