Solar Power

What Is Solar Power?

Solar power is the cleanest, most viable form of renewable energy available to help power your house. Solar Power uses solar panels to turn sun light into electricity. You can then use this solar electricity to power your home. The availability and wide use of solar power shows exactly how versatile it is as a source of energy. The technology and the systems are becoming smaller, more efficient and better looking than ever. Solar energy is a great way to add to the value of your home and reduce your environmental impact. To find out how solar panels function click here.

How Does Solar Power Work?

When the sun is shining on the solar panels they generate solar electricity. This electricity is then fed to the inverter which converts it to mains voltage. During the day if you are using any appliances, the solar electricity will be sent to power your appliances. If no energy is being used while the system is producing electricity, the inverter feeds this energy into the electricity grid. At night, your house draws energy from the grid. Your energy provider (Energy Australia, Integral etc.) then pays you for any electricity that the system feeds back into the grid. With a Grid Connect System you do not require batteries and you will never run out of power as you have the electricity grid as a back up. In addition to this, no changes will be need to made within your house regarding power points or how you use electricity.

Components of a Grid-Connect Solar Power System:

A solar power system is made up of three main components: the solar panels, the inverter and the mounting system. We use a variety of combinations of components to ensure each solar power system is tailored to your budget and house. For more information please click on the links below:

Solar Power 210W Solar Panel

Solar Panels

We use a variety of solar panels to suit your house, roof and budget. We are not brand specific in our solar panels and we use Sharp, BP, Sunpower, Kyocera and Suntech panels. All our solar panels are guaranteed for 25 years and are of the highest quality. Solar Panels are the most important part of a solar power system and we make sure that they are the best panels for your house or business. We are happy to chat with you about which solar panel brand is best for you.

Solar Power Inverter 2500W

Solar Inverter

Solar Inverters convert the power your solar panels produce into mains voltage (240V) so it can be used by your appliances. The inverter will direct the solar energy to your appliances (e.g. TV or fridge) if they are on, or otherwise it will send it to the grid for someone else to use (and you will get paid). We use a variety of solar inverter brands including SMA Sunny Boy, Fronius, Latronics and Conergy. We have a variety of wireless mounting displays as well to make it easier for you to monitor your system.

Solar Power Mounting System

Solar Power Mounting System

The mounting system to secure your solar panels to your roof is extremely important. The system must be specifically designed to ensure the panels are secured properly. We use SunTop III and UniRac Mounting for pitched roofs and Solar Famulus Mounting for flat roofs. All our mounting systems are made from the highest quality materials and are guaranteed.

Why Choose Grid Connect Solar Energy?

Australia is the luckiest country in the world. Our geography gives us the opportunity to use the most natural, sustainable and clean energy in our homes – the energy from the sun. With the Federal Governments Photovoltaic Rebate Scheme you can receive up to $8,000 back for installing a solar power system on your home. Installing solar power on your house is one of the biggest steps you can take to reducing your environmental impact and your carbon emissions. Check out this video on solar power.

Which Solar Power Installation is the Best for me and my House?

Our solar consultants are happy to have a chat with you and help develop the perfect solar system for your house. Our friendly staff will advise which panels are best suited to your house - Sharp, BP, Kyocera or Sunpower. Each house is different, so we make sure that your solar system is best suited to the uniqueness of your house. For more specific information on which system is best for you, check out our solar power installations.

How Does The Solar Rebate Work:

The rebate is federally administered for domestic solar power installations. There are different rebates for grid connect solar systems and stand alone solar systems. The main type of rebate is the PVRP Rebate for Grid Connect Solar Power. Under this rebate you receive $8/watt back (capped at 1000 watts). We will handle all rebate paperwork and submit the application for you. For more info on the rebate go to the Federal Government Site.

You will also be eligible for a REC (renewable energy certificate) rebate, which we will also organise for you. For more info please click here.

Benefits Of Solar Power:

  • Generating your own electricity will help reduce your electricity bill, saving your money
  • The Federal Government’s Photovoltaic Rebate Program along with the Renewable Energy Certificates will help you save money, meaning solar power systems are now more affordable than ever.
  • Produce clean electricity and reduce the impact of pollution and greenhouse gas emissions. With a 1Kw installation you could effectively remove 1.65 tonnes of carbon from the atmosphere (or a small car off the roads for over 8 months).
  • Add value to your home
  • Helps to meet energy requirements for new homes (eg. NSW BASIX, 5 star rating systems)
  • Once the system has been purchased, electricity is generated from a ‘free’ resource - the sun
  • Solar modules can be integrated into the building in the form of windows, walls, roof tiles or pergolas.
  • Solar power can supplement or provide all your electricity consumption.
  • Additional solar modules can be added later, to increase the size of your system.
  • Most solar modules have a warranty of more than 25 years and there are modules in operation, which were
commissioned over 30 years ago. Solar panels can last up to 40 years!
